If you’ve been following my blog or any of my social media’s you know how big we are into renovations! I kind of love it. And not because my father-in-law or husband does most of the work but because I actually LOVE to help (when I can). Since pregnancy is somewhat tiring I couldn’t do as much as I had hoped in her nursery but I did the most that I could! ..I think it’s safe to say that I’m done with renovations for a while. Our vision was a neutral nursery (since I’m not the girliest of girls) with a farmhouse style look. I had visions of shiplap, thick farmhouse trim and light colors. But before any of that could happen, we had to seriously renovate..
Ok, so let’s start with what the “nursery” looked like before. If you read Pt. 1 of Our Renovations, you’ve seen these already but I wanted to repost for the dramatic effect of what it transformed into! (Can you tell how excited I am yet?!)
So! We obviously completely cleaned out the room, took down the light fixtures (and the horrible window treatments), ripped off the molding and primed all the walls..
The ceiling was our (I mean Christian’s) next task. Because of the type of paint the previous owners used it was literally cracking off. And cracking paint that’s falling to the ground is not only an eye sore and ugly but extremely dangerous for Baby C. So we (I mean Christian)! scraped off all of the chipping paint, sanded and skim coated twice. Then we primed and painted (a few times).
Next, the closet. There were A TON of holes in the closet which I filled, sanded, primed and painted. Then installed the same system we have in our master bedroom closet. The Algot Storage System from Ikea (which has significantly dropped in price since we purchased it).
And now for the biggest reveal of all! The actual BEFORE and AFTERS of the Coronato Nursery! If you follow me on Instagram you know we installed a shiplap wall and farmhouse trim. All with MDF board.
This room is BY FAR my most favorite in the house! I hope we can one day have this type of trim everywhere!
Below is where we have her furniture and it’s where it will stay but is FAR from decorated! That chandelier is literally TO DIE FOR (obviously it will be wired up soon)! I spent so much time debating on what one to get. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money, but really wanted a farmhouse style chandelier. This just so happened to match her furniture perfectly AND fit our farmhouse style theme! Shop it here (oh AND it’s under $100!).
There is so much more that needs to be done, but all in due time!
I’d like to get an area rug and a recliner. I’d also like some art and some more decor. She has a HUGE room and I want to make it feel cozy! I’m even considering getting one of those cute teepees I’ve seen in little girls’ rooms and adding some comfy blankets and pillows to cozy the room up! Lots of ideas!
Follow me on Instagram to keep up to date on everything I do regarding the Coronato’s Nursery including closet organization, diaper storage, baby laundry and so much more!! I’m so curious as to how everyone organizes their closets so if you have any tips and tricks on how to organize a nursery closet and store diapers PLEASE let me know!!
