I wanted to write about this topic LONG before I started my Blog. We’ve all said it, many times “I just don’t have time”.
For me, it was my excuse not to work-out or cook the meals I needed to in order to live a healthier lifestyle. I work 10 hour days 5 days a week. I open the store at 10am and I close the store at 8pm. I need to get to work 15 minutes early and it takes me about 15 minutes to close up. In addition it takes me about 30 minutes to get to and from work.
SO I have an obligation from 9:15am – 8:45pm. I literally just did not have time to do anything except get ready for work.
We all experience this. We own homes, we have families (well, not me yet!), we have jobs. Our time is precious and we have responsibilities. I do not have kids, so unfortunately I cannot speak for the mommies out there who have a 24/7 job of taking care of your little ones, but I can try to help those of us who don’t have bundles of joy just yet!
I’m going to let you in on my secret of HOW I “ADDED MORE HOURS TO MY DAY”!
I asked myself a few questions:
What makes you happy? I answered: CrossFit.
What are your goals? I answered: To be the best athlete I can be!
How do you reach your goals? I answered: Through hard, dedicated training.
Can you do anything else? I answered: Eat to perform.
What has to be done to make sure you do what you need to in order to meet those goals? I answered: I need to make time to eat right and train hard.
SO, I made time, I prioritized and I put my goals in motion. I wake up at 5:15am, drive 40 minutes to my CrossFit gym, workout at 6am, leave the gym around 7-7:30am, get home around 8:10am. I immediately jump in the shower, make breakfast, make my meals for the day, get dressed, feed Philly, pack my bag and I am out the door at 9:15am. Then I work. I leave work at 8:15pm, go to the food store if I need any food cooked. If I do, I grill chicken and veggies, or make some beef (cooking maybe takes about a half hour). I’m in bed somewhere between 10:30-11pm. Then I sleep and do it all again the next day. There are times where I train after work in addition to training in the morning. Those nights I won’t get to bed until 11, but I go back to those questions I asked myself and know, that this is what needs to be done to reach my goals. We cook A LOT on the weekends! Sundays we will cook enough to get us through half the week and Christian and I always alternate who cooks.
The point of sharing my schedule is to show you it CAN BE DONE! JUST MAKE THE TIME!
The biggest question I asked myself was HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT? If the answer is “BAD, I WANT IT SO BAD” then making the time and answering these questions will be a piece of cake! Having these busy days makes me VERY happy! Because I know, every day, I am one day closer to my goals, one day stronger, one day faster and one day better than I was yesterday!
**I cannot express how important it is to make time FOR YOURSELF. Make time for what makes YOU happy. For me, it is CrossFit, but for you it can be anything! Your home, your job and your family will benefit from a happier YOU. Make time to make YOU happy. Ask yourself these questions below, then make time for YOU and make time for your goals. I promise you, it will pay off! ❤
